July 9, 2012: Lecture – Barb Forister Trunk Show – “Applying Color and Design to Cloth” for the Chisholm Trail Quilt Guild located at the Georgetown Public Library 402 W. 8th Street in Georgetown, TX , 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Lecture will include different ways to add color and and design by painting, dyeing, stencilling or stamping. July 10, 2012: Workshop with Barb Forrister – Dyeing to Create for the Chisholm Trail Quilt Guild 10 a.m. – 4p.m. This workshop will focus on dyeing fabric to create fabulous colors. We will experiment with both Full and Low Immersion Dyeing Techniques, Graduated Effects, Parfait Dyeing and Marbling of fabric. We will also continue with some marbelling, stenciling and stamping to create one of a kind prints on fabric. This class is geared for both beginners and advanced students. Hello, I am currently offering 5 workshops on painting, heat distressed plastics and 3 dimensional leaves, flowers and trees. These workshops focus on texture and pattern. Have you ever wanted to work with new and unusual materials but didn’t quite know how? If, so, these classes are for you! They are geared for all levels and can truly add something to your reperoire of tools not to mention the fun you will have! If you are interested in something that is not listed below, I would be happy to customize your workshop experience. All group workshops are $400 per day and $700 for 2 days. Artful Coloring (1 Day Workshop)

Come spend the day exploring textile paints and inks. We will be painting, inking, stamping and stenciling on fabric. We will be creating our own fabrics and  will also learn how to apply patterns to create simple designs that can stand alone or be incorporated into blocks for larger projects. Here, the possibilities are endless. This is a techniques class.

3 Dimensional Leaves (1 Day Workshop)
Come spend the day exploring ways to create 3 dimensional leaves. We will be layering and fusing materials and fibers to make various types of foliage. Learn how to thread paint trees and fiber etch leaves. Some painting and inking will be used
for the finishing touches. Discover the joy of bringing nature into your work. We will also learn how to apply pattern to your foliage through stitch. This is a techniques class. Machine required. Kit Supply Fee: $35


 

3Dimensional Flowers (1  or 2 Day Workshop)
Explore ways to create 3 dimensional flowers. We will be layering and fusing materials to make various types of flowers. Learn how to soft sculpt flowers. Some painting and inking will be used for the finishing touches. Discover ways to add texture and dimension to your work. We will also learn how to apply pattern to foliage through stitch. This is a techniques class. Machine required.

3Dimensional Tree (1 Day Workshop)

Create your own 3 dimensional tree! Learn how to sculpt a free standing tree. We will also add a canopy of leaves. Discover the joy of adding texture and dimension to your work. This is a weekend project but students will leave with a tree well on its way to being completed and know how to finish it at home.

Heat Distressed Plastics (1 Day Workshop)
Have you ever wondered what you can do with plastic? Today, there are so many products on the market, many of which can be recycled from everyday use. Come spend the day making synthetic fibers bubble and contort to create texture and dimension in your work. This is a techniques class.
