February 24, 2012- January 2013:Generation Y: Song of Hope was chosen by the City of Austin Cultural Arts Division to be included in the 2012 People’s Gallery Exhibition at Austin City Hall. The opening reception will be held on Friday, February 24th from 6-9 p.m. at City Hall located at 301 West 2nd Street in Austin, Texas. Food and refreshments will be provided by Whole Foods and everyone is welcome to attend. Please join us. We would love to see you! This exhibit will be on display the entire year of 2012. January 19, 2013:“Creating 3D Flowers, Mixed Media Style” for Austin Fiber Artists at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 4622 South Lamar in Austin, Texas. Create 3D flowers with a variety of mixed media. This is a great way to explore the world of mixed media through the use of acrylic paint, inks, heat distressed materials, Beading, Sewing and Soft Sculpting. Learn how to incorporate depth and dimension in your work. New patterns for Calla Lilies, Irises, and a few surprise flowers, along with Tiger Lilies and Tulips. May 2-3, 2013: Austin Area Quilt Guild Gift of Quilting at Westlake Hills Presbyterian Church. FE04 Embellishing with Foil – Barb Forrister on Friday, May 3 from 6-9 p.m. Add gorgeous, jaw dropping effects to your work with fanciful foiling. This class will focus on various techniques of embellishing fabric with foil. We will create designs that can stand alone or add to existing work. There are endless possibilities with this technique. S007 Artful Coloring and More – Barb Forrister on Saturdai, May 4 from 9-4 p.m. Come spend the day exploring textile paints and inks. We will be painting, inking, stamping and stenciling on fabric. Discover the joy of creating your own fabrics. We will also learn how to apply pattern to your fabric and create simple designs that can stand alone or be incorporated into blocks for larger projects. An extension on ideas for last year’s students is available.

May 23-25, 2013: Albuquerque Fiber Arts Fiesta, the 9th Biennial Juried Show located in the Manuel Lujan Expo Building with “Artist’s Garden” in group quilts, “Songbird” in Art Quilt Division and “Lost Cavern” and “The Adobe Pueblo Village” in Mixed Media Category. June 7-9, 2013: The International Quilt Festival of Ireland 2013, the second annual quilt festival in Galway with “Treasured Waters” in “Under the Sea” special exhibit. September 7, 2013: Lecture: Applying Color and Design to Cloth for the Town N Country Quilt Guild in Stephenville, TX. For more information, please contact barb@barbforrister.com . Barb Forrister will discuss ways to create fabric with a variety of mediums. Lecture will include different ways to add both color and design by painting, dyeing, inking, stamping and stencilling on various mediums. This presentation will include a trunk show with examples of how to incorporate newly created cloth into finished pieces.

Students will learn basic surface design techniques from dyeing to discharge, stamping to silk screening in a small class setting. No prior experience is necessary, only a desire to have fun and create! Students must be 18 years old and up. Class held in 5W. Limit 6 students.
